How do I prepare for my appointment?
As instructed in the introductory, you should have read all the required forms including the pre-care instructions which explain exactly what to do!
You may bring snack , blanket, air pods, etc. We can not provide these comfort items due to blood Bourne pathogen protocols.
Please do not chew gum during your appointment. I prefer to have quiet appointments to reduce facial movement since I am (gently ) leaning on your face for support but we can certainly chat during a break!
Please show up on time, but not too early! Since our appointments average 2 hours, we typically have clients back to back which is why we have a strict 15 minute grace period. You’re welcome to have one adult guest wait in the waiting room if they are driving you. For safety reasons, children are not permitted in the studio at anytime.
What to expect at your appointment?
We are located inside of Barnaby’s Plaza where there is ample, free parking!
We suggest getting to your appointment on time or a tad early, but not too early as our appointments run back to back. We have a strict 15 minute grace period. First time appointments average 2.5 hours from start to finish with the exception of Eyeliner which is 1-1.5 hours.
You’ll be welcomed with refreshments & given directions to the rest room.
We then apply numbing cream and let that soak in as we talk about your design goals: shape, style, color, density, etc. , It’s a collaborative process; we want your input, after all, it’s your face!
Before and after pictures are required by our insurance providers. You may opt in or decline photo consent for use on socials but as stated, these will need to be put on your file and will be kept confidential should you decline consent.
We sanitize the area we’re working on and then take “before” pictures . Once style details sorted out, we will map the tattoo using several measuring modalities along with our artistic eye to create the perfect shape. Once you approve the design, we move forward with tattooing! Topical anesthetics are used throughout the procedure to keep clients comfortable. Towards the end of the appointment, we hand the client a mirror to see if there are any final adjustments they’d like to make. When the tattoo is completed, we will take “after” pictures, educate clients on aftercare, then schedule the follow up appointment during checkout
IS cosmetic tattooing the same as microblading?
NO! Microblading is an outdated technique that causes excessive damage to the skin by slicing it open VS Cosmetic tattooing which is created by a dotting technique: think sewing machine VS a scalpel. Cosmetic tattooing is an alternative to Microblading that is much gentler on the skin, gives softer, more natural, and longer lasting results. Doctors and Oncologists typically do not sign off on Microbalding due to it’s barbaric technique.
DOES IT HURT?
The consensus is no! We have client’s who take naps during their appointments. Others say it was slightly annoying at most almost like a light scratchy feeling but not painful.
Those with fair skin, light eyes, red hair , or those who’s hormones are unstable may feel the tattoo a little more than others. This is typically caused by resistance to the topical anesthetics that we use. All in all my clients say it’s no big deal and well worth it!
When will I need a color boost?
Will I need maintenance?
A color boost is one , 2.5 hour appointment booked 12-24 months for brows, 2-4 years for eyeliner and lips . The cost is $465.00. We repeat all steps at your very first appointment such as mapping and color matching.
If you wait too long and your tattoo fades significantly, you may have to book in as new client since you’ll need two sessions.
About 5% of clients with sensitive skin, excessive oil, autoimmune diseases, or don’t follow pre + post care instructions may need a third session. The cost is $185.00 for a 1.5 hour block.
Can I book in for a color boost if I have existing permanent makeup done elsewhere?
Only with reapproval before booking in. You must book an in person consultation where I will assess the opacity, color, shape, etc. If you book book in without pre-approval, we will not be able to service you. & your deposit will be forfeited.
